What's a Psychoeducational Assessment?

This evaluation is an adult-normed deep dive into how your brain processes, retains, and retrieves information within a high-pressure academic environment. Whether you are facing executive functioning hurdles, suspecting an undiagnosed learning disability, or dealing with the intersection of ADHD and mental health, this process identifies the clinical root cause of your struggle. Our psychologists move beyond the transcript to provide the gold-standard documentation required by Ontario universities to implement the formal accommodations and financial supports you deserve.

How Does It Work?

A female university student using her smartphone for a virtual intake interview with a psychologist to
begin a psychoeducational assessment for ADHD and learning disability support.

Step 1: Intake Interview

To start, you will be matched with one of our psychologists for a private, neuro-affirming video consultation designed to uncover the "why" behind your academic hurdles. This initial conversation is your opportunity to share your firsthand experiences with university life—from executive functioning struggles and focus issues to the early signs of burnout. Using these clinical insights alongside your background questionnaire, our psychologists will design a customized testing battery tailored specifically to your cognitive profile and the rigorous documentation requirements of your school’s accessibility office.

Step 2: Clinical Evaluation and Testing

Testing is conducted in a low-pressure, supportive environment by our trained psychometrists who use adult-normed tools designed to capture your true cognitive strengths and areas for support. To ensure your results reflect your actual abilities rather than evaluation anxiety, our psychologists prioritize your comfort with frequent breaks and available weekend scheduling at our convenient Ontario locations, which include accessible parking. This student-centered approach allows you to complete your testing in as many sessions as necessary without any additional fees for extra appointments, ensuring you can work at your own pace and finish with a complete, accurate clinical profile.

Step 3: Feedback & Reports

After testing, you’ll meet with your psychologist for a neuro-affirming feedback session to review your results and discuss how your unique cognitive profile relates to your academic goals. To ensure you get the support you need while maintaining full privacy with your institution, our psychologists prepare two separate documents: a deep-dive personal report for your own records and a concise academic summary for your school's accessibility office. This roadmap provides the clinical evidence required to unlock OSAP Disability Grants (BSWD), secure legal accommodations, and equip you with the self-understanding and psychological strategies needed to succeed in university and beyond.
